Frances Bean Cobain admits she is not a Nirvana fan

Frances Bean Cobain has revealed that she is not the biggest fan of her late father’s band.

22-year-old Frances Bean – the daughter of Courtney Love and Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain – made the surprising revelation during an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

Cobain stated: “I don't really like Nirvana that much. Sorry, promotional people, Universal.”

Instead she sighted preference for other bands over the Seattle grunge outfit: “I'm more into Mercury Rev, Oasis, Brian Jonestown Massacre.”

During her interview, Frances Bean also spoke about her feelings towards her father’s suicide at the age of 27 when she was four years old:

“Kurt got to the point where he eventually had to sacrifice every bit of who he was to his art, because the world demanded it of him. I think that was one of the main triggers as to why he felt he didn’t want to be here and everyone would be happier without him… In reality, if he had lived, I would have had a dad. And that would have been an incredible experience.”

Frances Bean Cobain is the co-executive producer of the documentary ‘Cobain: Montage of Heck’ – the first film about her father to be made with the Cobain family’s cooperation.

‘Cobain: Montage of Heck’ is showing in limited UK cinemas from today (April 10).
