Jennifer Lawrence wins music prize at MTV Movie Awards

American actress Jennifer Lawrence can now add a music award to her trophy cabinet.

The Oscar-winning star was named winner of Best Musical Moment at the MTV Movie Awards last night (April 12) for her song performance in ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1’.

Lawrence sang vocals on a track titled ‘The Hanging Tree’ along with composer James Newton Howard.

‘The Hanging Tree’ does not appear on the CD release of the ‘Mockingjay – Part 1’ soundtrack but was added to the digital release.

Lawrence’s ‘The Hanging Tree’ went on to top the charts in Austria, Germany and Hungary, and peaked at No. 14 in the UK and No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Aside from her musical moment win, Jennifer Lawrence lost out to Shailene Woodley in the Best Female Performance category for her role in ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ which was named Movie of the Year.

Bradley Cooper scooped Best Male Performance for ‘American Sniper’.
