Shawn Mendes: 'Sometimes girls scream vulgar things at me in the middle of songs'

Canadian heartthrob Shawn Mendes has revealed that he has noticed girls yelling out suggestive things to him while he performs live.

During a new interview with radio station 99.7, the rising star opened up about his fans and getting nervous ahead of performances. When asked if he gets anxious before taking the stage, he confessed: "I definitely do still get nervous... I don't think that'll ever stop."

The DJs then asked if he ever gets annoyed by all the screaming his fans do when he sings and replied: "No, but sometimes in the middle of a slow song you hear vulgar things being shouted out! I've actually been pretty lucky (no one has ever thrown vulgar things onto the stage)."

Mendes, meanwhile, is on course for a No.1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with his debut offering 'Handwritten' as music industry forecasters have suggested that the record could sell over 100,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 19
