Stars praise Avril Lavigne for Special Olympics track 'Fly'

Canadian sensation Avril Lavigne recently shared the music video for her new song ‘Fly’, which she wrote and recorded for the Special Olympics and the stars have been praising her charitable effort since it came out.

She will donate proceeds from sales of the single to the fantastic cause and many celebrities have thrown support behind her by promoting the song on social media. Pop megastar Britney Spears tweeted: “This video gives me chills @AvrilLavigne! So beautiful what you’re doing for @SpecialOlympics.”

Hitmaker Nicole Scherzinger also shared a link to the track via her Twitter page and wrote: “Inspired and moved by my girl @AvrilLavigne’s new song #Fly! Proud to be supporting @SpecialOlympics this summer in LA.”

Actress Eva Longoria added: “Download #Fly by @AvrilLavigne. Proceeds support @SpecialOlympics!”

Lavigne recently admitted that the meaning of the song’s lyrics changed for her after she was diagnosed with Lyme disease so it’s even more poignant for her now: "(The song is) about inner strength and courage... The message of the song is to show the world that they can overcome the challenges and that everyone is meant to shine and this song took on a whole new meaning for me during the time that I've been sick, which was pretty magical."
