Shawn Mendes on fame: 'This is how I dressed a year ago, and how I dress now'

Canadian heartthrob Shawn Mendes has revealed that he hasn't changed, despite the fact that his debut album 'Handwritten' has just scored him a No.1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

During an interview with Billboard, the rising star admitted that fame hasn't changed him and he's just an ordinary 16-year-old: "If I dressed like a celebrity that’d be one thing, but this is how I dressed a year ago, and this is how I still dress now."

He also confessed that while he likes to write about love, he is currently single and joked that his young age means that he doesn't really have lasting relationships: “I’m 16, so relationships only really last for a week or so."

Mendes, meanwhile, has recently been confirmed to perform at this year's Radio Disney Music Awards, which is due to take place on April 25 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Other performers include Nick Jonas, Becky G and Fifth Harmony.
