Zayn Malik: 'Don't attack me for defending myself'

Former One Direction member Zayn Malik has reassured his fans that he loves them all after getting into an awkward Twitter feud with former bandmate Louis Tomlinson yesterday.

The spat came about after Tomlinson indirectly commented on a photograph that producer Naughty Boy had shared online of himself posing in the studio with Malik. Naughty Boy quickly realised the remarks were aimed at him and hit back, prompting the 'Story Of My Life' singer to retaliate further.

Tomlinson then tweeted: "@NaughtyBoyMusic Jesus forgot you were such an in demand producer... How does it feel to be riding on the back of someone else's career? Good for you, well done!! I think we've done alright in terms of sales and I've happened to write on most. Keep trying!"

Malik got involved and suggested that Tomlinson should stop with the public messages, writing: "@Louis_Tomlinson remember when you had a life and stopped making bitchy comments about mine?"

This morning (May 7), Zayn Malik returned to his Twitter page and told his followers that he appreciates them all and was only trying to stand up for himself: "Don't know why I'm being attacked for defending myself, people got it twisted! I love my fans! Every single one of you x."
