Hitmaker Kevin Jonas, formerly of the Jonas Brothers fame, has given some words of advice to Zayn Malik following his departure from boyband One Direction. 

Kevin (pictured on the far left) understands what it feels like to go through a group split and offered some wisdom to the 'Story Of My Life' sensation about how best to handle it. He suggested that the star takes some time off to get his head around the transition and advised him to 'let the dust settle':

"In the midst of that intensity, he should go dark for a long time. You gotta go dark for at least six weeks! Like, underground, you gotta go hard, like you're done... You have to let the dust clear. Anything you do then will be scrutinised."

This advice seems especially poignant now following the Twitter spat that came to a head yesterday between Malik and former bandmate Louis Tomlinson. Tweeting about the very public feud this morning (May 7), Malik wrote: "Don't know why I'm being attacked for defending myself, people got it twisted! I love my fans! Every single one of you x."
