Aston Merrygold felt depressed after JLS split

Singer Aston Merrygold has revealed that he was depressed when his band JLS split and he was desperate to get back on stage and perform

Speaking about coping with the huge change, the heartthrob told Britain's The Sun newspaper that he's not happy unless he's singing and it was tough to step away from what he was used to:

"I can't lie and say there haven't been times when I've got depressed. You see people performing out there on massive stages -- something I've done in the past -- and I wasn't getting to do it. I'm not happy because I'm not on that stage."

Merrygold went onto add that his new record label, Warner Music, is the reason his new solo material is being delayed and he has everything ready to go:

"If I had it my way I probably would have released stuff straight away. I'm 27 and people are asking me if I'm retired, it's just weird. I've been sitting on my hands. I've got it all there, it's ready and I'm made to wait. (JLS) still love hanging out but now I'll message one of the boys and ask, 'What are you up to?' and they're like, 'I'm working'. So I'm like, 'oh'."
