Kendrick Lamar reveals how his 'Bad Blood' collaboration with Taylor Swift happened

'King Kunta' star Kendrick Lamar has opened up about how he came to appear on Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood' single

During an interview with Ellen DeGeneres this week, the rapper explained that Swift was the one that reached out to him and asked if he wanted to contribute to the track: "She reached out. I've always been a fan of hers, and she was a fan of my music and she reached out and we got it done."

Swift's star-studded music video for 'Bad Blood' recently broke VEVO's 24-hour record after it attracted 20.1 million hits in just 24 hours. Alongside Lamar, it also features model Karlie Kloss, Selena Gomez, Cara Delevingne, Lena Dunham, Paramore's Hayley Williams, and Ellie Goulding.

Swift told Rolling Stone magazine that Lamar's music was the one thing that helped her to feel calm when she was dealing with anxiety from constantly being chased by photographers:

"At first, I got really anxious every time I'd be about to open the car door. They'd (paparazzi) crowd around me and yell. Then one day I put my iPhone on shuffle and 'Backseat Freestyle' came on. Something about Kendrick's voice and the beat made me feel safe. It was pretty much all I listened to that summer."
