Lionel Richie on Michael Jackson's death: 'It doesn't seem real'

'All Night Long' hitmaker Lionel Richie has revealed that the death of his friend and music icon Michael Jackson back in 2009 is something that he will never make peace with.

Speaking to Hello! magazine, the superstar explained that he still can't believe the King of Pop is gone and probably won't ever come to terms with it: "To this day, I can't get it into my head that he's dead. It still doesn't seem real. It's so huge to me that he's not here."

Richie added: "It's my birthday on June 20 and I'll never forget that year - I decided to delay my party because Michael was rehearsing for his big tour. He only lived a block and a half away and I wanted our kids to get together so I told him I would put it off until the weekend. But that was the week Michael died. Every year since, when my birthday is coming up, I still think of that day."

Back in April, Lionel Richie told Event magazine that something was "seriously wrong" with Jackson: "Every time I saw him (I wanted to help). There was something seriously wrong with Michael. But you have to understand that this is Hollywood so you can't use the word 'weird'."
