The best-selling female solo acts and female groups in the UK last year revealed

The British Phonographic Industry has confirmed details of the UK's best-selling female solo artists of last year.

BPI shared the information via Twitter this afternoon and explained that in third place is country icon Dolly Parton. 'Bad Blood' sensation Taylor Swift was the second best-selling solo artist in the UK and Paloma Faith came in first place after selling over 635,000 albums.

Where all-female groups are concerned, First Aid Kit finished in third place, 'Black Magic' beauties Little Mix were second, and Haim placed at No.1. 

As previously reported, One Direction were named the best-selling male group in the UK of 2014 after shifting a total of 800,000 units in the country. The band meanwhile are currently on their On The Road Again tour and will perform tomorrow night (June 16) in Denmark.
