Justin Bieber and Usher copyright lawsuit reinstated

A copyright trial involving Justin Bieber and Usher has been reinstated.

The duo were part of a $10m (£6.3m) lawsuit in 2013 that alleged they copied parts of a song by musician Devin Copeland, who is also known as De Rico.

The track in question was Bieber and Usher's 2010 track 'Somebody To Love'.

Copeland and his songwriting partner Mareio Overton claim sections of their 2008 song of the same name was plagiarised.

The case was originally thrown out - but now the case has been reinstated.

Judge Pamela Harris said of the new ruling: "After listening to the Copeland song and the Bieber and Usher songs as wholes, we conclude that their choruses are similar enough and also significant enough that a reasonable jury could find the songs intrinsically similar."
