Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj and Sam Smith win big at BET Awards

Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj were the night's big winner's at this year's BET Awards.

The 'Drunk In Love' star took home a total of three gongs at the event in Los Angeles on Sunday (June 28).

They were Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Video of the Year ('7/11') and Video Director of the Year.

Minaj won two prizes on the night - Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and Viewers' Choice Award ('Only').

Sam Smith bagged the Best New Artist award whilst Janet Jackson received the Ultimate Icon tribute.

Other winners included Chris Brown, who bagged the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and Fandemonium prizes, and Kendrick Lamar (Best Male Hip-Hop Artist).

Rae Sremmurd were named Best Group, whilst Smokey Robinson picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Selma won the Best Movie accolade and Terrence Howard was given the Best Actor prize.
