Yes co-founder Chris Squire dies aged 67

Yes bassist and co-founder Chris Squire has died at the age of 67.

The pioneering prog-rock musician passed away in Arizona on Saturday night (June 27) after suffering from a rare form of leukemia.

His iconic group, who formed in 1968, said in a statement on Sunday (June 28):

"It’s with the heaviest of hearts and unbearable sadness that we must inform you of the passing of our dear friend and Yes co-founder, Chris Squire.

"Chris peacefully passed away last night in Phoenix Arizona. We will have more information for you soon."

Squire had revealed in May that he had been diagnosed with acute erythroid leukemia.

The bassist was forced into sitting out of Yes' summer tour of North America.

He was the only constant member of Yes throughout their illustrious history, which featured two UK No.1 albums and a No.1 US single.
