Boyband member passes out on flight after wearing all his clothes to avoid charge

A member of the boyband Rewind was taken to hospital with heat exhaustion after wearing multiple layers of clothing on a plane to avoid a £45 baggage charge.

James McElvar took an Easyjet flight from Exeter to Glasgow on Wednesday (July 8) night.

However, The Sun reports that he wore 12 layers of clothing to escape paying a charge for having too many bags.

The singer became ill whilst on the plane as the heat got to him, with McElvar telling the newspaper:

"I thought I was a goner and that I was having a heart attack.

"The woman said either one bag went in the hold or we weren't getting on. The rest of the band had gone through so I couldn't give them any of the clothes.

"I was told I’d either have to pay a £45 fee to get it on the plane, get the flight the next morning, bin the clothes or wear them."

The band, who hail from Glasgow, later said on Twitter that the singer was doing fine after being taken to hospital.
