Record label Syco have confirmed that Zayn Malik is still on their books.

The singer left One Direction - who are also on Simon Cowell's Sony imprint - in March.

It has been suggested that he will now launch a solo career, with the Brit already been working with producer Naughty Boy.

It has been said that the former boyband man is tied to Syco has part of his contract with One Direction.

The Sun reported today (July 17) that Malik has been dropped and moved to another Sony label to avoid any potential conflict of interest with his old band.

However, a rep for Syco told Digital Spy that the story is not true and that he remains on the label.
