Years & Years' debut album 'Communion' lands at No.1 in the UK

British electronica trio Years & Years have shot straight in at No.1 this evening on the Official Albums Chart with their debut offering, 'Communion'.

The album, which features Top 40 singles 'Desire', 'Shine' and Official Singles Chart No.1 'King', has outsold the rest of the Top 5 combined in its first week on sale. Speaking about their charts success, the group explained that they are overwhelmed:

“We’re so, so, so excited! Having a Number 1 album is a dream come true. Thank you EVERYBODY AND EVERYTHING, THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF ALL OUR LIVES. Our fans are the best and we are very very happy today”.

Elsewhere, Ed Sheeran’s 'x' slides one place to No.2 today, followed by James Bay’s 'Chaos and the Calm', which is up one place to No.3. Sam Smith’s 'In the Lonely Hour' is at No.4 and Taylor Swift’s '1989' rounds out this week’s Top 5.

Bob Marley & The Wailers’ 1984 compilation 'Legend' climbs 38 places to re-enter the Top 20 today at No.16, trailed by U.S. girl group Fifth Harmony, who make their Official Albums Chart debut with 'Reflection' at No.18.
