Zayn Malik signs to RCA Records: 'This is my moment to show you who I really am'

Singer Zayn Malik, who quit One Direction in March to pursue a solo career, has signed an impressive record deal with the well-respected label RCA

The heartthrob took to his official Twitter page this evening and told his followers that he is really excited about this new chapter. "I guess I never explained why I left, it was for this moment to be given the opportunity to show you who I really am! #realmusic #RCA!!"

RCA is currently home to a variety of artists ranging from 'Shut Up And Dance' hitmakers Walk The Moon to Miley Cyrus, R&B sensation Usher, Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson, Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Sia, and Pharrell Williams.

Malik, meanwhile, was recently praised by rapper 50 Cent who told Britain's Daily Star newspaper that he would love to work on a musical project with him in the future: "I'm a fan of his, I like his music. I think hopefully we can do something. Some sort of collaboration. I don't know if it's actually signing to the company or if it's just recording songs together you know."

Music mogul Simon Cowell has since weighed in on Malik's news and told his followers on Twitter: "I believe they are perfect label for @ZaynMalik’s solo career and I am sure whatever they release together will be special. We have been working on this for a while and I am pleased to say congratulations to @Zaynmalik on signing with @RCARecords."
