Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor secure UK No.1 single

Musician Charlie Puth has scored his second UK Number 1 on today’s Official Singles Chart (August 14) with Meghan Trainor on their collaborative offering, 'Marvin Gaye'.

The track has been doing incredibly well in the Top 40 all week and finishes with a combined chart sales figure of over 94,000, climbing 89 places since first entering the tally last week. Puth told The Official Charts that he's overwhelmed by the success of the single:

“UK! Thank you so much for making 'Marvin Gaye' Number 1. This song was a labour of love and I feel beyond blessed to have everyone’s support overseas. I can’t wait to spend a lot more time making friends in the UK. To many more."

This song is Puth’s second UK No.1, following his feature on Wiz Khalifa’s Fast & Furious 7 tribute track 'See You Again', which topped the chart for two weeks in April and May. The track also marks a second chart-topper for Meghan Trainor, following her debut cut 'All About That Bass', which spent four weeks at the top last October.

Calvin Harris & Disciples stand firm at No.2 this evening with 'How Deep Is Your Love'. The track has been streamed over 2.21 million times in the last seven days, making it the UK’s most streamed track of the week. The Weeknd’s 'Can’t Feel My Face' continues to ascend the chart, and is up five places today to a new peak of No.3.

Former chart-toppers Little Mix are at No.4 with 'Black Magic' and Lost Frequencies’ 'Are You With Me' finishes at a respectable No.5. Rita Ora scores her 12th UK Top 40 this week with new Chris Brown collaboration 'Body On Me' at No.23, while Selena Gomez’s 'Good For You' ft. A$AP Rocky climbs 17 places to make its Top 40 debut at No.29.
