Jess Glynne is UK No.1 in Official Singles Chart and makes history

Congratulations to Jess Glynne, who not only tops this week’s Official Singles Chart, but enters the Official Charts history books

'Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself' leaps a massive 77 places to No.1 to give Jess her fifth chart-topping single; matching Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s record for the most No.1s for a British solo female on the Official Singles Chart.

Glynne also achieved the feat quickly; in just 18 months, compared to five years for Cheryl. Jess' previous chart leaders are 'Rather Be' (with Clean Bandit in Feb 2014), 'My Love' (with Route 94 in March 2014), 'Hold My Hand' (April 2015) and 'Not Letting Go' (with Tinie Tempah in July 2015). Speaking about her new No.1, Glynne explained that it's an honour:

“I can’t even begin to explain how awesome it feels to have Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself go to Number 1! The past few months have been one long, emotional journey so to come back to so much love and support is insanely amazing. I just want to say a massive THANK YOU. This is the best feeling ever!"

'Marvin Gaye' by Charlie Puth ft. Meghan Trainor slips to No.2, and Calvin Harris & Disciples’ 'How Deep Is Your Love' is at 3. The song is this week’s most streamed track for a second week, with 2.36 million plays.

Rounding off the Top 5 are The Weeknd’s 'Can’t Feel My Face' at No.4, and French producer Martin Solveig is this week’s highest climber, vaulting 103 places to No.5 with his GTA collaboration 'Intoxicated'. Outside the Top 10, rising star Pia Mia zooms 47 places to Number 20 with 'Do It Again' ft. Chris Brown, and Swedish production duo Galantis score their second Top 40 with 'Peanut Butter Jelly', entering at 24 today.
