Fleur East says 'Uptown Funk' has influenced debut album

Fleur East has revealed that Mark Ronson's hit track 'Uptown Funk' has influenced the sound of her first album.

The singer performed the tune as an X Factor contestant in December 2014 - a month before the official song was scheduled to be released as a single.

The performance went down a storm and encouraged Ronson's team to rush-release the track.

East finished second on the show and she told Digital Spy that the energy of 'Uptown Funk' has been channelled into her debut album.

The Brit said of performing the song: "It was very beneficial that the song hadn't really come out yet.

"At the time it felt like a huge risk, but looking back now I think it was a good thing that people didn't know the song. They could kind of just judge me as an artist in the real world.

"Everything about that song - the uptempo vibe, the high energy, the brass, the old school funk sound - was just right up my street. I've definitely taken a few influences from that."
