Singer Matt Cardle has credited Spice Girl Melanie C with helping him get out of a bad place. 

The former 'X Factor' winner sought treatment for prescription drug and alcohol abuse back in 2013 and has now revealed to Britain's The Sun newspaper that he was lucky to have such incredible people around him to help when he needed it the most:

"Lots of people picked me up from my lowest... that includes my family and Mel C. I know where I went wrong and I know I'll never go there again.

Back in February 2014, Cardle told press that he was close to death at his lowest point: "The doctor said to me if I'd been left to my own devices for another three or four weeks I might not be here now. To be told it is life or death, I was like, 'Hold on a minute, how have I come to this? How has it got this bad?'"
