James Arthur struggles to watch 'The X Factor': 'It triggers anxiety'

Singer James Arthur, who won ‘The X Factor’ back in 2012, has revealed that he still has a lot of respect for the show, but he struggles to watch it now because it reminds him of a difficult time.

During a new interview, the musician was asked if he has been keeping up with the new series of ‘The X Factor’ and confessed that watching the show brings back stressful memories:

“To be honest, watching The X Factor is a little bit of a trigger of anxiety for me at the moment. I haven’t seen any of it yet as it brings back stressful memories. I think the line up is very fresh and good and obviously Nick Grimshaw is on there. I think he’s honest with his opinions and I like that. I’ve been on his show; he’s a really cool, down to earth guy. I don’t know how he’ll be as a judge, but we’ll soon see, I guess.”

When asked if he would still audition for the show knowing all he does now, Arthur admitted that it’s a really great platform and he would definitely have another shot:

“Yeah I would definitely do it again, but I wouldn’t cut my hair so short and put on so much weight! I went on there when I was still quite poorly and going through some depression. I hadn’t really sorted my head out and then I threw myself into a pressure pot like that. I wish that I’d cleared my head before going into it, because afterwards all the problems came back. I spent some time trying to figure those issues out, whilst being in the limelight. It was very difficult.”
