The Weeknd is No.1 in the UK with 'Beauty Behind The Madness'

Hitmaker The Weeknd has scored his first UK No.1 with his new album 'Beauty Behind The Madness'.

The album, which is also The Weeknd’s first Top 10, features collaborations with Lana Del Rey and Ed Sheeran and includes Top 10 hits 'Earned It' and 'Can’t Feel My Face'.

Last week’s No.1, 'I Cry When I Laugh' by Jess Glynne, has slipped to No.2, while indie rockers Foals are new at No.3 with fourth album 'What Went Down'. Foals also secure the week’s biggest selling album in UK independent record shops.

Songstress Ella Eyre's debut album 'Feline' is new in at No.4, while Sam Smith’s 'In The Lonely Hour' spends its 67th week in the Official Albums Chart Top 10, at No.5.

American singer-songwriter Halsey scores and Official Albums Chart debut at No.9 with 'Badlands', while veteran rockers Motorhead land a fourth Top 10 with their 22nd album 'Bad Magic'. It’s the band’s first Top 40 since 1991.

US pop duo Beach House are brand new at Number 17 with fifth studio album 'Depression Cherry'. Iron Maiden’s 'Number Of The Beast' makes a return to the Official Albums Chart at 21 – it peaked at No.1 in April 1982. BRIT Award winners Royal Blood zoom 26 places to re-enter the Top 40 at Number 22 today with their eponymous chart-topping debut, and singer-songwriter Birdy is also a massive climber – 'Fire Within' rockets 53 places to land at No.25.

Van Morrison’s 'The Essential' is new at No.33 following his 70th birthday concerts last weekend. Foo Fighters’ 'Greatest Hits' hops back into the Top 40 at Number 37, and Calvin Harris’s 'Motion' (39) and Sia’s '1000 Forms of Fear' (40) also make a return.
