Shane Filan wants Westlife and Girls Aloud fans to support new single

Former Westlife sensation Shane Filan has opened up about collaborating with ex-Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle on a new song called 'I Could Be' and revealed that he hopes their existing fans enjoy the track.

During a new interview with BANG Showbiz, the heartthrob admitted that it would be great if fans of both his old group and Girls Aloud got behind this new duet because it's something he is very proud of:

"I don't what the reaction to the song is going to be yet but I think the whole Westlife and Girls Aloud connection could be very interesting - from a fan base perspective. I hope all the fans get behind it. But here's the funny thing you don't know what people are going to think about it until they hear it! I think it's the best song I've done as a solo artist lyrically, melodically, and there's a bit of tempo on it."

He went onto talk about how the collaboration came about and confessed that he and Coyle met each other when their respective bands were at their most famous: "I said to the label we're gonna have to find someone serious to sing this song, because it's a very high song for the girl so we had to get somebody who could nail it live. It's my first duet so it's obviously very important to me, I wanted an amazing singer and Nadine ticked that box straight away."

"I've known her for years because of Girls Aloud, she's a really nice girl and obviously you want to work with someone who you're going to be comfortable with you don't want someone who is an absolute nightmare to work with - not that I know of anyone! You want it to be fun and we had great fun in the studio, when we were listening to each other singing the song we knew it was special. It was great to do it the old fashioned way as well. Sometimes artists don't even meet each other until the video shoot which is a load of s**t! We had such a laugh in the studio."
