'Stitches' hitmaker Shawn Mendes has responded to Justin Bieber's recent interview, in which the superstar claimed not to know who Mendes is. 

During an interview with New York's 95.5 PLJ this week, Bieber was asked if he wishes he could go back to where Mendes is in his career at the moment armed with the knowledge he has now after experiencing so much in the industry over the years and he responded by asking, "who's Shawn Mendes?"

Talented young Mendes told BBC Radio 1 this morning that he hopes Bieber will become aware of him over time because he used to admire him: “We haven’t met, but I guess he just doesn’t know. I’m definitely a fan, I looked up to him for awhile, but I guess he just doesn’t know who I am. We’ll have to let him know.”
