Brian McFadden warns 1D stars not to expect instant solo success

Brian McFadden has told the members of One Direction to accept that they might not find success as a solo artist.

The boyband are due to take a break from March next year to focus on solo endeavours.

McFadden left Westlife in 2004 at the height of their fame and he told the Mirror that One Direction can't expect their solo careers to hit high peaks.

He said: "There are some very good people in One Direction – Niall Horan is very talented, Harry Styles will definitely have a solo career.

“But [former Westlife singer] Shane Filan said he thinks they are in for a shock because it’s not easy and he is so right.

“I think they just assume because One Direction are so massive they are just going to continue on. But all you have to do is look at the likes of *NSync, The Backstreet Boys – even Westlife.

"That’ll be the hard part for them as it has been manic for those boys – everything they do is in a football stadium with thousands of screaming girls."
