The likes of Janet Jackson and The Smiths have landed nominations for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

The group have announced the latest batch of music artists in consideration for a place in the hall of fame, which will induct new musicians next year.

Janet Jackson, The Smiths and Chic - who have now been nominated a record ten times - are all up.

Chaka Khan, Deep Purple, NWA, Nine Inch Nails, Cheap Trick and Yes are also nominated.

The hall of fame's voting body of around 800 artists, music historians and music industry professionals will decide which artists will be inducted.

A fan voted nominee will also feature in the acts entering in the hall of fame.
