Jamie Lawson is on course to bag his very first UK No.1 album

Jamie Lawson is currently leading the UK albums chart with his self-titled debut.

The Official Charts Company revealed today (October 19) that the record is No.1 on their midweek update.

The album is the first release from Ed Sheeran's Gingerbread Man label.

It is selling two times the amount of Demi Lovato's fellow new entry 'Confident', which rests at No.2.

At No.3 is another new effort - John Newman's 'Resolve' - while No.4 goes to Nothing But Thieves' new self-titled effort.

Rounding off the top five is yet another newbie - Peter Andre's Ratpack inspired 'Come Fly With Me'.

Jean Michel Jarre is No.7 with 'Electronic 1 – The Time Machine' while Scouting For Girls fly in at No.8 with 'Still Thinking About You'.

Fightstar's new entry 'Behind The Devil’s Back' is No.9, which would give them their first top ten record.

Composer meanwhile Ludovico Einaudi is set for a career-best position with 'Elements', which is in at No.12.
