Comedian and 'Apprentice: You're Fired!' panelist Romesh Ranganathan has joked that he wants to "be the new" Zayn Malik in One Direction. 

Ranganathan told Digital Spy that he doesn't think the lads should pursue a career in comedy and believes he would be more suited to joining the boyband as a singer:

"I think I'd be more suited to joining One Direction than them taking up stand-up comedy. And in fact, this is me putting myself out there, I would like to be the new Zayn."

He added: "Listen, I'm bringing a different thing to it which is I've got a non-rhythmical dancing style and a lack of any requisite talent, but I think what I'm doing is outside the box. We've seen boybands who can sing and dance, what about one where one of the dudes is just rubbish. That's never been done before."
