Benjamin Clementine wins the 2015 Mercury Prize

The winner of this year's Mercury Music Prize has finally been announced and Benjamin Clementine has claimed the coveted award.

Benjamin Clementine managed to beat tough competition to the £20,000 prize at the ceremony, which was held this evening at the  BBC Broadcasting House's Radio Theatre and presented by Lauren Laverne. In his acceptance speech, Clementine repeated that he didn't know what to say and added:

"I would like to say that if there's anyone watching, a child, a youngster or a student, the world is your oyster. Go out there and get what you want to get."

Last year's winner was Young Fathers with 'Dead', 2013 saw James Blake take the title with 'Overgrown', and 2012's Mercury Prize winner was Alt-J with 'An Awesome Wave'.
