Eagles of Death Metal describe Bataclan massacre for the first time

Rock band Eagles of Death Metal have given their first interview following the horrendous terror attack at the Bataclan in Paris, France during their concert there on November 13.

89 people were killed at the venue that night and a total of 130 people lost their lives in the multiple attacks on the city. EODM were on stage when the shooting began and managed to escape unharmed.

Frontman Jesse Hughes told Vice: "Several people hid in our dressing room and the killers were able to get in and killed every one of them except for a kid who was hiding under my leather jacket. People were playing dead and they were so scared."

"A great reason why so many were killed was because so many people wouldn't leave their friends. So many people put themselves in front of people."

Last week, the band issued a statement about the attack, which read: "Bonded in grief with the victims, the fans, the families, the citizens of Paris, and all those affected by terrorism, we are proud to stand together, with our new family, now united by a common goal of love and compassion."

"We would like to thank the French police, the FBI, the U.S. and French State Departments, and especially all those at ground zero with us who helped each other as best they could during this unimaginable ordeal, proving once again that love overshadows evil."
