Rihanna and Drake are among the most popular artists on Spotify this year.

The music streaming service has revealed its end of year data and Drake was the most played male artist on the platform.

Rihanna was the most popular female - despite not releasing her mooted new album 'Anti'.

Drake beat off competition from Ed Sheeran, The Weeknd and Maroon 5 to land the title.

Rihanna meanwhile trumped singers like Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.

'Beauty Behind The Madness' by The Weeknd was the most listened to album of the year, while Major Lazer's 'Lean On' topped the song list.

Sheeran was named the most popular male artist in the UK, while Rihanna was the most streamed female.
