Michael Jackson documentary set for Sundance Film Festival

Spike Lee is set to unveil his latest documentary on Michael Jackson in January.

Titled ‘Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off The Wall’, Spike Lee’s film will examine Jackson’s transition from child star with the Jackson 5 to his breakout solo success.

The film will receive its premiere at the Utah Sundance Film Festival which takes place over January 21-31.

Spike Lee previously worked with the King of Pop directing his ‘They Don’t Care About Us’ music video as well as directing a 2012 retrospective film marking the 25th anniversary of the album ‘Bad’.

The film promises to unveil rare archive footage as well as interviews with Michael Jackson’s collaborators and artists who have been impacted by ‘Off The Wall’’s music.

Sundance’s programme director, Trevor Groth, has said of the documentary: “The film focuses on his drive and commitment. What a hard worker he was, not just how talented he was.”

He added: “For fans, I think it’s going to play through the roof. And for not fans, they’re going to be fascinated.”
