Pressparty chats to singer-songwriter Stephanie Rainey about Christmas

We recently caught up with pop-rock artist Stephanie Rainey to talk about all things Christmas.

The singer-songwriter is steadily making an impact on the Irish, Canadian and American music scenes and her major breakthrough came with her debut EP ‘Half of Me’ reaching No.3 in the Irish chart and No.2 in the Alternative chart, sharing the top three slot with Hozier and The Script.

Rainey is currently working on her new album for release next year: the material will range from personal compositions in the vein of ‘Please Don’t Go’, for which you can check out the music video below, through to soaring full-band anthems.

What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?

Definitely just being with my family. I love Christmas day because everything is closed and no one is rushing anywhere so you just get to hang out.

What are you hoping to find underneath your tree this year?

Boring, but new pyjamas and slippers. Then it's Christmas.

What is your worst Christmas memory and best Christmas memory?

We had no electricity one year because there was a storm so we couldn't have Christmas dinner. It was actually kind of nice in a weird way. We had candles and it was seriously Christmassy. I couldn't really pick a best one, Christmas is generally just awesome!

What’s your favourite festive song?

I love 'O Holy Night'. Or else 'Fairy Tale Of New York' if I'm out and after a few drinks with my mates. It gets quite emotional. Ha ha!
