Harry Styles among stars to pay tribute to late Eagles founder Glenn Frey

Eagles founding member Glenn Frey has died at the age of 67.

The musician passed away on Monday (January 18) after complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia.

A host of music stars have paid tribute to the US star, who also enjoyed a successful solo career.

Harry Styles wrote on Instagram: "One of the greatest ever. He will be missed by so many. Rest in love and peace Mr. Frey."

Eagles co-founder Don Henley concluded in a statement: "It will be very strange going forward in a world without him in it.

"But, I will be grateful, every day, that he was in my life. Rest in peace, my brother. You did what you set out to do, and then some."

Brad Paisley added: "So saddened and shocked by the loss of Glenn Frey. Thank you for the music that paved the way for so many others."

Nikki Sixx wrote: "R.I.P. Glenn Frey....Thank you for all the great songs and powerful lyrics...Jesus, can the reaper please take break for awhile....."

Brian May said: "So now our old comrade Buffin - from Mott the Hoople - is gone. And Glen Frey from the Eagles ? My God. The sound of our own wheels ... Bri."

Brian Wilson added: "I was shocked to hear about Glenn Frey passing away – it was a real blow to hear. Love & Mercy to Glenn’s family tonight."

Ryan Adams meanwhile posted: "RIP, Glenn Frey. Travel to the stars safely, bro."
