Jarvis Cocker creating the score for Neil Gaiman's 'Likely Stories'

Musician Jarvis Cocker has recorded the score for Neil Gaiman's forthcoming new TV series, 'Likely Stories'

Gaiman, who is known for his novels including 'Coraline', is behind the new series based on a collection of his short stories. At the moment, there are no plans to release the soundtrack commercially. The cast of 'Likely Stories' is fantastic and includes Johnny Vegas and 'Friday Night Dinner' star Paul Ritter. Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard are set to direct it.

Sky Arts explains that the mini-series will be set in London: "These four 30-minute short stories will be characteristically dark and strange whilst also drawing on the deftly crafted characters’ human warmth and wit.  Centring on the act of storytelling, viewers will be drawn into Neil’s intricately crafted world that moves seamlessly between reality and fantasy. Neil himself will appear in each film in an unusual way, with subtle nods to his wider work that Gaiman super-fans will be able to spot."

In a statement for Sky Arts, Gaiman explained that it's an exciting project and he can't wait to see how his writing materialises on screen: “Short stories traditionally do not get a lot of love from television. I'm really excited to see what the team are going to do and make with 'Likely Stories' - they've given it real thought and it feels like it's going to be something very, very special.”
