Taylor Swift's new album passes the 1 million mark
Taylor Swift’s third album, ‘Speak Now’, has sold over one million copies in its first week.
This latest release showcases a maturity and new direction for the young artist that can be heard on its first single, ‘Mine’, and also seen in the track’s accompanying video.
America’s Billboard magazine explains that Swift, 20, is one of only four women ever to shift more than one million records in the first week of sales and she joins Britney Spears, Norah Jones and Whitney Houston in this record breaking rank.
The young singer songwriter is also the first artist to reach this impressive figure since Lil’ Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter III’ sold 1,006,000 copies in 2008 and she will bring her ‘Speak Now’ tour over to the UK next March for a series of arena dates.
