Stormzy: 'Britain isn't just One Direction and Little Mix'

MC Stormzy has revealed that Britain's musical representation isn't accurate and while One Direction and Little Mix do "represent youth culture", they aren't all this country has to offer.

During his Oxford University Address last night (March 7), which was in front of 300 people, he explained that there's no diversity in the UK's big awards ceremonies such as the BRITs and it's a shame:

"Britain is not just One Direction, Little Mix and James Bay. There’s Skepta killing it, there’s Krept and Konan killing it." Referring specifically to last month's BRITs, he added:

"I'm not too sure of how much of a race or diversity issue it was. People started saying 'why isn't this person there [at the awards]? why isn't that person here?' it's not about that. For me, the voting panel was mostly middle-aged white men, they might not know about people like me. There is the Little Mixes, One Directions and James Bays but there's also the Skeptas and the Krept & Konans."
