Alice Cooper thought Axl Rose joining AC/DC was a joke

Alice Cooper has admitted that he thought news of Axl Rose fronting AC/DC was an April Fool's joke.

The Guns N' Roses singer will stand-in for Brian Johnson on the band's upcoming tour dates.

Johnson risks total hearing loss if he continues to tour.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Alice Cooper said he originally thought it was all a joke.

However, he believes the Guns N' Roses' man's vocals will suit AC/DC.

Cooper said: "At first I thought it was an April Fool's thing. I went, 'Oh, come on.' Then I started thinking about it and said, 'You know, his voice is absolutely perfect for that band. That might just work'.

"I just think that's such a unique combination. Whoever has tickets to that show has got the golden ticket, because who doesn't want to see that?"

AC/DC will perform 12 shows in Europe this summer before playing a batch of rescheduled North America dates.
