Prince shoots straight to No.1 and No.2 on the US albums chart

Prince has topped the US albums chart just days after his death.

The musician died on Thursday (April 21) in his Paisley Park complex in Minnesota.

Billboard has confirmed that his compilation 'The Very Best of Prince' has reached No.1 on their albums chart.

It gives Prince his fifth No.1 record on the Billboard 200 chart.

It sold 179,000 equivalent album units - a 10,872% increase on the previous week.

His 1984 album 'Purple Rain' is in at No.2, while 'The Hits/The B-Sides' re-enters at No.7.

In the week ending April 21, Prince sold a total of 256,000 albums in the US.

The musician meanwhile was recently cremated following a postmortem.

However, the cause of death is only expected to be known in at least four weeks.
