Backstreet Boys have all but admitted defeat in planning a tour with the Spice Girls.

The two 90s acts have long been rumoured to be hitting the road together.

While the Backstreet Boys have regularly talked up the idea, it seems the tour isn't going to happen anymore.

Singer AJ McLean told 103.5 KTU that the Spice Girls will be too busy celebrating an anniversary next year for the two acts to work together.

He said: "From what I’ve heard, The Spice Girls want to do their own tour.

"It’s their 20th anniversary, we’re back in the studio making a new album. So everyone is doing their own thing.”
