Beyoncé collaborator: ''Love Drought' lyrics are not about Jay Z'

Beyoncé's song 'Love Drought' made headlines after it was released into the world as the lyrics were quickly linked to reports of her husband Jay Z's alleged affairs, but the inspiration behind the track has now been shared.

During an interview with Genius, co-writer Ingrid Burley confirmed that the lyrics were actually inspired by music industry liars.

She explained that two staff members at Beyoncé's Parkwood Entertainment label told her that the music sensation wasn't accepting music from potential collaborators, but she later discovered that was a lie so she wrote the song about that:

"Two of the people who were running the label at the time lied to me and told me that Beyoncé wasn’t currently listening to any new music. The only way I could really get over it was, like, 'She's gonna sing the song I wrote about her label one day.'"
