Kanye West and The Weeknd have been confirmed to perform at a new festival in the US.

The organisers of New York City’s Governors Ball will hold the Meadows Festival on October 1 and 2.

The event will take place at New York's Citi Field, with rapper West headlining.

The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper, Kygo, The 1975 and Grimes are also on board.

Twin Shadow meanwhile will perform 'Purple Rain' in honour of late musician Prince.

Tickets go on sale from 11am local time on Thursday (June 23).
