Music stars Lily Allen and Labrinth react as UK votes to leave EU

Music stars took to Twitter on Friday morning (June 24) to react to the news that the UK voted to leave the European Union overnight.

Nearly 52 per cent of voters decided that the country would be best quitting the EU, with Prime Minister David Cameron later confirming plans to resign.

A number of music stars took to Twitter - mainly to express their dismay at the vote.

Lily Allen wrote: "Well millennials. We're really really f*cked.

"How's that stronger economy and NHS looking?"

Labrinth added: "Shocking results.

"Today is a sad day for Britain. All the fear mongering actually worked and fear has won over sense."

Nathan Sykes said: "Historic day for the UK. Speechless. #EUreferendum."

Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos meanwhile reflected on the number of older people who voted to leave the EU.

He said: "Feel devastated this morning.

"Baby Boomers. The most selfish generation. Gifted in abundance from generations before. Stole from all generations to come after."

James Bay wrote: "A sad day for a world of WE, of together, of common unity with our fellow humans. #StrongerTogether."

Johnny Marr added: "No one ever said that the majority know what they're doing. All the more reason for the rest of us to stick together."

One Direction's Irish singer Niall Horan also offered his thoughts on Twitter, saying: "It's a sad day. The economic impact that this is going to have is definitely going to make those voters regret their decision."
