Tidal rep denies Apple have had talks about buying the service

A rep for Tidal has denied that it has held talks with Apple about selling the service to the technology giant.

The high-quality streaming service was bought by rap mogul Jay Z in 2015 for $56.2 million (£42.2 million) in a bid to give artists more control.

The Wall Street Journal now reports that Apple are in talks to buy the company.

Their sources claim that the tech business wants to "bolster" its existing Apple Music platform with Tidal.

However, a rep for Tidal denied that talks have taken place.

The Wall Street Journal suggests Apple is impressed by Tidal's strong links to artists such as Kanye West and Madonna.
