Led Zeppelin fail to recoup $800k in copyright case fees

Led Zeppelin have lost a bid to recoup nearly $800,000 (£620,000) in legal fees.

The band were recently found not guilty of plagiarising Spirit's song 'Taurus' with their classic track 'Stairway To Heaven'.

The group asked to recoup their costs for the case, but Judge R Gary Klausner has ordered the band to pay up.

He ruled that the estate of Spirit guitarist Randy Wolfe did not have "nefarious motives" and that Led Zeppelin were entitled to pay.

It was alleged that the band stole the opening of their 1971 song 'Stairway to Heaven' from 'Taurus' by Spirit, which was released three years prior.

The lawyer for Wolfe's estate previously said he would appeal the verdict, which ruled that Led Zeppelin's song was not "intrinsically similar" to 'Taurus'.
