John Newman revealed brain tumour diagnosis to raise awareness

John Newman says he opened up about his latest brain tumour diagnosis in the hope of encouraging more people to get themselves checked out.

The singer confirmed earlier this month that he has a brain tumour after previously having a benign one removed around four years ago.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, the Brit said he hoped to raise awareness of the condition by speaking out.

He said: "I want people to know it's OK to go for tests."

Newman added that he feels lucky to be in the position that he's in.

He said: "I've got my music, my family and incredible friends.

"I am good; there are people in far worse situations and I hope it brings awareness to them."

Newman told fans that his prognosis is "good" and that they shouldn't worry about him.
