Sting to receive BMI Icon honour at the BMI London Awards

It has been confirmed this afternoon that music icon Sting will be honoured with the title BMI Icon at this year’s BMI London Awards.

He will receive the award at a ceremony on October 10, which will be held at London's Dorchester Hotel, for the incredible impact he has made on popular music for more than four decades.

It will be hosted by BMI President & CEO Mike O’Neill and BMI Executive Director of Writer/Publisher Relations, Europe and Asia, Brandon Bakshi. In a statement, Bakshi said:

“Sting is an icon in the truest sense of the word. His musical catalog has had an enormous impact on music lovers from around the globe across multiple generations. We are extremely proud and honoured to name Sting as our BMI Icon not only for his work as a songwriter but also for his contributions as a composer, actor, author, activist and humanitarian.”

Previous winners include Van Morrison, Sir Tim Rice, Queen, Bryan Ferry and Ray Davies.
