Bono on Donald Trump: "Don't let this man turn America into a casino"

U2 star Bono, who is known for his political campaigning, has revealed that a vote for Donald Trump in America's forthcoming Presidential election is "dangerous".

During an interview with Charlie Rose, the frontman admitted that he can't believe such a candidate is in the running

"America is, like, the best idea the world ever came up with, but Donald Trump is potentially the worst idea that ever happened to America. I think of Emma Lazarus, those lines, 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...' This is America. This is not from Donald Trump's playbook."

Bono went onto add that he doesn't consider Trump to be a Republican because his views are so extreme that he can't place him among that group in a way that feels safe: "I don't think he's a Republican. I think he has hijacked the party, and I think he's trying to hijack the idea of America. And I think it's bigger than all of us. I think this is really dangerous..."

He concluded: "Wise people of conscience should not let this man turn your country into a casino."
